With a rich heritage and history, India is home to 1.3 billlion people across it’s diverse landscape. Redesigning the Indian rupee whose design follows the golden ration was the challenge of this project. Elements of India’s modern direction it is heading toward, while reflecting their history became the focus of this redesign. Celebrating 72 years since India’s independence from Britain, this new ruppee should unite and invoke a sense of patriotism within India.

Anatomy
The newly designed 2000 Rupee features details of the celebrated Taj mahal. The front includes a section of the Taj Mahal, where much of the beautiful flower detail can be see. Mahatmas Ghandi is also featured on the front because he is a largely responsible for India’s independence from Britain. The security pattern behind these two elements has India’s national flower, the lotus flower, within the security pattern. The front side follows the golden ration, leadiing the eye to Mahatmas Ghandi.
The back side features a full view of the Taj Mahal, with security patterns outlines the direction of the Taj Mahal arches. The arch portion above the Taj Mahal, includes flower detail engraved onto an archway above the security patterns. The center frame made of patterns seen throughout Indian archiecture brings in India’s rich history with these patterns. The sides of the rupees have security patterns fading into the edges of the currency revealing arches within the security patterns.
